The Hungry Pelican – Two New Studies

Hello again art lovers!

I hope all is well in your worlds.

I’m alright.  I’ve only completed a few newer pieces and they’re  little more than quick studies, but now that my epic is finished, I have a treasure trove of rich, fanciful imagery stored up in the ol’ dream machine.

The tale centers around an amnesiac who lives alone on an island.  As a result of a frustrating, zen-like conversation with a hungry pelican that swooped down to steal his roasted fish, the amnesiac is charged with a perilous quest and dubbed the “Old fool”.  The old fool must find the black wolf that carries the stolen of bag of countless treasures.  Inside the bag are three items which will console the weeping dragon.

A New Higher-Quality Image Of Re Imagining GOZER

Hello again art lovers,

I hope you’ve all had a great week.

I became bogged down on the study for my last oil painting.  I’m glad I didn’t actually start squeezing paint out of the tube and smearing it on canvas yet, because since then, I’ve totally reworked the composition.  Anyway, I used some of the down time to re photograph some older pieces.  I’ve been wanting to re shoot quite a bit of my older work ever since purchasing a new camera over a year ago, so I’m pleased that I finally managed to get to the task. Below is a higher quality image of “Re Imaging Gozer”.  The camera captured a lot more of the detail, heavy smears of oil paint, and the vinyl/paper collage underneath.  Take a look.

In other news, the recent studies I found from 2010 will be on sale a little longer before being taken down.  These works have never been featured on my website and are available for a limited time.  They’re visceral, moody and on sale on my shop page.

New Higher Quality Photos of Old Agents Of Change + Goodies For You

Hello again art lovers,

I hope all is well in your worlds.

I spent some time catching up on something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time.  I finally re photographed the Apoko-Lips PRIMER pieces with a higher quality camera and now have the images displayed on the main gallery page of my website.  There are still a few pieces belonging, chronologically, with the PRIMER pieces that I haven’t re shot yet, but I’ll get to it.  Anyway, it was great to unroll the large-scale pieces and examine them again after all this time.  I attached two of new higher quality photographs below.

Please feel free to take a look at the other three PRIMER pieces and more recent work at ckirkart.com.  For earlier works, click here.

In other news, I recently went through my art storage and came across a few different collections of studies from 2010.  These studies were created with charcoal, chalk, spray paint and tape on 18 x 24″ paper.  They are very visceral and moody.  I shot high quality images of the work and have listed them on the “Shop” page of my website.  I attached one of the pieces below, but if you liked to see the other three, please visit my shop.  If you would like to see high quality or detail photos of the 2010 studies, please contact me from my website.

Fox Full Of Wind

Hello again art lovers,

I hope this week has been good for you.

I finished up a piece for the new “MR MIRACLE Mythos” arm of my Apoko-Lips series.  I’m low on canvas, so I painted over an old canvas that I had played over for the last two years.  Because of this, the texture was so rough, that initially , I had a great deal of trouble.  I pretty much wrote it off as a failure last week and went back to the drawing board with charcoal and paper.  I figured I would hash out the theme a bit more and pick the oil painting up once I had a new canvas to work on.  I’m compulsive once I initiate a painting, so of course, I started work on the piece again.  After a bit of playing around, I found a way to adjust to the rough canvas.  I’m reasonably happy with how the new work turned out.

A Psalm Concerning Nasty Ol’ Brian

318166_10150637666229790_1976081389_n

Once upon a time there was a guy called Brian.  He was always mad and usually cryin’.  People were always in his way, he never had anything good to say until a light bulb lit up above his head, and he saw things really weren’t that bad.  He did everything he could do.  He lost weight and polished his shoes.  Afterward, he even made his bed, but the very next day Brian fell down and broke his head.  Out of everyone that heard the news, no one cried, or sang the blues. they all rejoiced instead.  They rejoiced because nasty ol’ Brian was finally dead.

Alchemy & Art

Hello again art lovers,

I hope all is well.

I have been spending some time reviewing some of my early works.  Diving into past compositions has been part of a process that I’ve been undertaking for a while now.  I am gearing up for the next phase of development which will include new oil paintings and charcoals focusing on the lessons I have learned over the course of the last two (Extremely weird) years.  I have been recording the imagery of the yet to be realized compositions when they pop up on the mind screen of the dream machine, and I have to admit that I’m getting pretty excited about the work that’s coming round the bend.

The review of earlier works has been primarily to remember and reintegrate techniques, moods and themes.  I’m seeing the new work in traditional media, but who knows what will happen?  The paintings could just as easily get rough and sloppy.  Anyway, I wanted to share a few of the pieces I have been eyeballing as of late.  I hope you enjoy them.

Charcoal Drawing – ZEROG RAINBO GODRA & The Shit Storm

Hello again art lovers,

I hope you have all been well.

Its been a couple of weeks since I’ve typed up a new post.  I wish I could say that I have been enjoying leisurely days, taking a vacation from the internet, or producing new art, but unfortunately, it was only one of those shit storms that we’re all familiar with.  You know, the ones that pop up now and again that put most everything else on hold?  The shit storm has a kinder name in the Hermetic Principles. It’s known as the “Back swing” contained in the principle of rhythm.  Thankfully, I think the backswing is about over and I’m getting ready for the upswing.

Enough about that.  Just before the “Back swing” I was able to set down and formulate some new ideas for art works.  Some of my collectors may be thrilled.  These potential art works will see a return to the mediums of charcoal sticks and oil paint.  I haven’t been away from oil for very long, but charcoal is another story.  It’s probably been a few years since I’ve created any serious charcoal work.  That being said, I managed to crank out a quick study of my ZEROG RAINBOW GODRA character a couple of weeks back.  I hope you like it.
